Is selling online really this hard?

Hi all,

I have a booth on a site called Bonanzle. It is a great site with a ton of potential, and it is ebay’s competitor. Here is my problem….you don’t pay to list, however you do pay a final value fee on items sold. Now I have no issue paying this fee, however so far, the Bonanzle site owners are doing absolutely no advertising, the sellers are doing it by word of mouth and whatnot. So for me, this means low traffic. I am not sure what I might be doing wrong. I sell really cool and unique products….for example Manic Panic organic funky hair colors, Hello Kitty items, etc…and my prices are low and my shipping price is even lower…yet item movement seems low.

I am a new seller….I have been trying it out for a couple of months now. I am on plumdrop.com, google base, facebook, etc. I am not in a position to spends tons of advertising. Can anyone offer suggestions?

Thanks!
