"The jail is where bail hearings began Tuesday for more than 280 protesters arrested in Monday’s unexpectedly violent protests here at the Republican National Convention.
Nearly 10,000 anti-war protesters arrived at the steps of the Capitol building, eager to voice their complaints on everything from the White House to the economy, and tout the country’s need to embrace all things green and organic.
But the fight had been brewing for days: local police raiding protester homes days earlier, in an effort to make a preemptive strike on potential violence; activists, claiming their rights were violated, circulated videos online of terrified young people being handcuffed, and ordered to lie flat on the floor by police in SWAT-like uniforms.
Monday started out peacefully enough, a relief to many. But as the afternoon wore on, small groups peeled off from the main rally, and that’s when things started to go bad. Road flares were thrown into garbage dumpsters, and then the fiery receptacles were pushed into position to to block traffic.
Shop windows were busted. So were police car windows. Protesters threw rocks, bottles, even garbage at the thickening rows of police in riot gear.
One group cornered members of the Connecticut Republican delegation as they were walking to a security check-point to enter the Xcel Energy Center.
“They linked arms and tried to prevent us from going in," said Heath Fahle, the state party’s executive director. "They were pushing and shoving, and we were pushing back, just trying to get by."
He added: “They were grabbing at purses, at credentials, spitting on the delegates.”

There’s video on that blog if you’re interested. Also, it was NATIONAL news. Unless you had your head in the sand you would have heard about it. I chose the blog as a source because of the video links.
Yes, but when they go to far, they should be jailed. By going to far, I mean like throwing road flares in dumpsters and then pushing them out into traffic. The democrats are well aware of their angry mob behavior, because they have experience as you description displays. They have already declared republican disruptions as "angry mob" like, but it hasn’t reached the bar, as far as democrats doing it. I doubt that republicans would ever reach that level, only democrats are that vicious regarding their hate for America.
So, apparently you endorse the concept of arresting unruly protesters of which I concur
The liberal mind is very simple.
Republican protest= bad. No matter what.
Democrat protest= good. No matter what.
Great question, I should give you 10 points.
you cite a blog as your source, but your rant is incorrect, so i disagree
Welcome to 1984 my friends
Perhaps it’s past due for the "civilized society" to actually become civilized. Both parties are full of their share of retards, let’s stop the division shall we.
I had no idea there was that much violence.
After Chicago 68 convention it sounds relatively bland.
What can I say, I neither condone or condemn violence.
Its just an indication of how our biased media has enraged the people of the right and the left. Unfortunately, we will never know the real president Bush because of the reporting about him so completely negative. And we’ll never know the president we have now because it is so completely positive. Neither accurate. Why doesn’t the media just give us the facts instead of the spin?
I don’t support violent protests by ANYONE, because I don’t think they work. I also don’t support police labeling people violent who aren’t just to shut them up.
